We
have a very "family-oriented" class environment.
Certainly the proper discipline, conduct and protocols are
maintained, and our families can train together. After bowing
when entering the Dojang (training facility) with shoes removed,
I will direct every aspect of the training activity.
Classes are scheduled to accommodate age groups and belt ranks,
white belts and upper belts alike are each provided with the
individualized material for their level. Newest students are
worked with more individually. Class work begins with stretching
exercises and warm ups and then students begin work on fundamental
technique. Class time typically includes an emphasis on
speed and agility drills, paddle drills, sparring drills,
sparring, forms,
self-defense and tournament training.
While material is challenging to each individual, we attempt
to motivate and encourage everyone to achieve greater heights.
We are always aware of individual limitations, such as age, size,
etc., so as not to place students into inappropriate situations.
All persons are treated with respect and are provided every
opportunity to advance and progress at their own rate. We
maintain a professional environment designed to foster pride
in the program and the school. Students share a bond of friendship
and fellowship which brings everyone together to help each
other learn and advance - as an extended family of mutual
support. Everyone is an individual and
patience is a virtue. So, no one is pushed beyond their ability
to learn and advance. If children are old enough to understand
what it means to study, to focus on learning information and
technique, then they can be martial arts students. We have
children, teenagers, moms and dads, persons who train for
health and exercise as well as state and national champions.
Respectfully, Master Gerard Bonaparte
